I have specialized training and interest in the field of mental health during and after pregnancy.
Depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsions, and psychotic symptoms are some of the common mental health issues that effect pregnant and post-partum people. Lack of sleep, the stress of a changing family, and changes in your relationship with your partner are normal issues experienced by all after the birth of a child. But if you are experiencing difficulty bonding with your new baby, difficulty finding any joy in this new life, constant worry and anxiety, or strange thoughts that you’re uncomfortable sharing with others you may be experiencing a maternal mental health issue. Left untreated, these issues can have lasting consequences on developing infants as well as on the people suffering through them. Many people avoid getting help due to stigma as well as fears about medication. Seeing a therapist is the best place to start and therapy alone, without medication, may well be all that’s needed to feel fully engaged in your new life.
In addition, I am here for support through all family planning situations, including adoption, decisions to terminate pregnancy, and infertility.
